I have a whole bunch of Jewellery and Tiaras I made a while ago to sell on ebay. I sold on necklace and got great feedback, but made very little due to the charges for all the other listings. I still have all the other items, but loathe selling anything on ebay anymore. Should I try Etsy or Folksy instead? Theoretically I could use both, or I could pus aside my ebay hate and go back to selling there. What do you think? Also, how do I decide how much each item is worth?
I'll set up a flicker account and upload all the photos when I get a chance. In the meantime, here's one of my pieces.

I sell on etsy, so I am biased, but I think their charges are very reasonable. It took me awhile to get comfortable with pricing my items (I sell earrings and necklaces mostly). The formula I use is to add up:
ReplyDelete-the cost of materials
-the time it took to make x how much my time is worth: this includes taking the photos of it and writing descriptions as well as actually making it.
-the cost of listing the item on the website (for etsy it is 20 cents for 4 months plus 3% commish when it sells)
I also look on other people's sites to see what they charge for similar things.
The crown looks lovely, I could see someone wearing this for a prom or a wedding :D
Thanks! That crown took me about 4 hours to make!
